I have been a fool for most of my adult life. Granted, this adulthood has been a recent burden (2 and a half years into being responsible for my actions and I’m starting to realise that it’s all a trap), but it is still a long enough time to recognise my supreme foolishness.
In comes the elusive beauty product – toner. Despite a few google searches (which to me, amounts to exceptional research on the matter), I never really understood its purpose in the facial routine. Shopping with my friend Maya, she approached a shelf in The Body Shop with awe, asking me about toner and its uses. Mistakenly, I shrugged it off as a pointless waste of money, designed by companies to get you spending on things you don’t need. Oh, how wrong I was…
Months later, after a bit of a skincare crisis, I decided on getting The Body Shop’s Vitamin E toner for its cleansing and hydrating properties, and if you couldn’t tell prior to this, I have been wholly converted.
Applying the toner daily as part of my facial routine has helped an incredible amount with keeping my skin smooth, moisturised, and blemish-free. I even noticed that using it has helped to fade the appearance of my dark chickenpox scars. I apply it using a cotton pad all over the face, after cleansing and before moisturising, focusing on my dry t-zone. For anyone with dry skin, who has doubted and mocked the purpose of toners in the past, I urge you to give this a go.
